Das Album verbindet die Tradition des Swing mit moderner Improvisation und stellt sowohl Hawkins in einer späten Karriere-Renaissance als auch Mannes subtile rhythmische Führung in den Mittelpunkt.

Die ausgedehnten Interpretationen von Standards wie "Take the A Train" und "Cherokee" sowie "I'm Coming Virginia" präsentieren ein ausdrucksstarkes Tenorsaxofonspiel, raffinierte Harmonien und ein makelloses Zeitgefühl. Das Ergebnis ist eine entspannte, zugleich aber reich nuancierte Session, die bis heute zu den Favoriten unter Impulse!-Liebhabern zählt und als bedeutendes Dokument von Hawkins' später Schaffensphase gilt.
