Yamaha YAS-82ZS - Alto Saxophone - Silver Plated

Ideal for the most demanding jazz player

The 82ZS captures the essence of those treasured classic saxes of the past while adding state-of-the-art tuning and ergonomics.

Description

Yamaha Custom series saxophones are designed with some of the greatest players in the world and hand-built by the cream of Yamaha's expert craftsman. Meticulously developed from the finest materials and built with innovative features, Yamaha Custom saxophones provide rich sounds and an expressive feel to elevate the performance level of even the best saxophonists.

The Yamaha 82ZS has a remarkably expressive sound with a solid core that comes as a result of the hand-hammered bell. An improved low B - low C# connection ensures that the low C# closes securely, giving players real confidence when playing in the lower register. The VI neck helps to create a more expressive saxophone, made possible by the more open feel that this neck gives along with a wider dynamic range. Made of a special lighter-weight brass alloy.

The brass body is left unlacquered and plated with beautiful bright silver plating. The lack of lacquer does mean occasional cleaning with a silver cloth is required to maintain the finish. However, the added layer of resonant precious metal gives more projection and a wonderful extra dimension to the sound.

The Beauty of Silver Plating

The gradual formation of patina on silver-plated saxophones imparts an exceptional charm and character to the instrument. It's a captivating visual transformation that resonates with many musicians, as the saxophone evolves and matures with time.

It is important to acknowledge that although silver polish cloths are available, the natural process of tarnishing cannot be completely halted.

Within just a few days, you will start to witness the beginning of this transformation. It's worth noting that many instruments we receive from the factory have already embarked on this natural journey.

When I took it into the studio there was a new kind of intrinsic beauty that I hadn't heard in my other horns. This 82Z is far, far superior. Phil Woods

These silver-plated Custom saxes are Yamaha's best-kept secret! The cream of the Yamaha crop as far as we and many of the Yamaha endorsees are concerned. Silver plating always gives you a little bit extra but it is something extra special with these Custom models. Phill Straker - SAX
